The EDUCATE training program of the STEP4NAMs project is now online! The focus is on innovative technologies such as Organ-on-Chip systems, organoids, and digital models, which are setting new standards in research and have the potential to specifically complement or, in the long term, replace traditional animal models.

The is designed for researchers, students, and interested parties from academia, industry, and the general public. Its goal is to promote the widespread use of NAMs (New Approach Methodologies) in the biopharma and medtech sectors and to accelerate the transfer of research findings into applications. Particular emphasis is placed on supporting small and medium-sized enterprises in selecting and implementing appropriate methods.

Organ-on-Chip technology – Learn from the experts

With its Organ-on-Chip sub-module, the 3R-Center Tübingen offers a free online training course designed to teach the theoretical fundamentals of OoC systems and their application as human-relevant NAMs. The content is delivered by international experts from research and industry and is aimed at anyone interested in gaining an in-depth understanding of organ-on-chip systems.

The Curriculum

The sub-module covers the theoretical foundations and technological development of Organ-on-Chip systems, as well as their application as human-relevant NAMs.

From theoretical knowledge to industrial application

The successful completion of the Core Module and the Organ-on-Chip sub-module opens up exciting opportunities within the ENABLE training program. Starting in January 2027, the 3R-Center Tübingen will offer on-site training sessions. These are specifically designed for small and medium-sized enterprises and promote direct exchange as well as the practical application of organ-on-chip technologies on-site.

The Organ-on-Chip module is part of the EDUCATE sub-modules, which provide comprehensive access to key NAMs.  Other sub-modules focus on innovative key technologies such as organoid models (University of Luxembourg), digital twins (University of Galway), and benchtop simulations (Atlantic Technological University), thereby covering a broad spectrum of modern, forward-looking approaches.

STEP4NAMs: Moving NAMs Forward Together

STEP4NAMs is an initiative co-funded by the European Union under the Interreg North-West Europe (NWE) program.
