3R-Center Tübingen at the State Garden Show 2024 in Wangen

From April 26 to October 4, 2024, Wangen in Allgäu hosted the State Garden Show a significant event celebrating gardening while promoting urban and regional development goals. On June 14, 2024, the 3R-Center Tübingen, in collaboration with the University of Ulm, showcased their work in the 3R field. They informed visitors about alternative and complementary methods, animal welfare in research, as well as education and public outreach in these areas.

The importance of public relations and science communication

The dialogue between science and society is essential for building trust and informing the public about new scientific developments. Events like the State Garden Show promote the exchange of knowledge and perspectives, helping to reduce misunderstandings and deepen the understanding of innovative research methods.

It is particularly important to raise children’s awareness of issues like animal welfare and the potential of innovative human tissue models early on. Providing age-appropriate information allows young people to develop an understanding of ethical questions and spark an interest in scientific topics. This not only promotes an understanding of the 3R principles but also encourages the desire to find solutions for improving research practices. Such initiatives contribute to fostering a responsible society in the long term.

The exchange with the many interested visitors was extremely enriching, especially the great interestin the 3R principles and alternative and supplementary methods to animal testing. We are already looking forward to the State Garden Show 2025 and the opportunity to present our work to a wider audience, continuing to promote important topics around the 3R principles and biomedical research. We are excited about the upcoming encounters and further dialogue!
