Official Kick-Off Meeting of the 3R-Network Baden-Württemberg

4. May 2021

Animal experiments are controversially discussed in our society and are not least ethically problematic. Whether studies on mice, rats or primates can adequately represent the biological processes in humans is subject to a critical discussion. But what are the alternatives? What can already be replaced and what not, and which role does the 3R principle (Replacement, Reduction, Refinement of animal testing) play in this?

Together with the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts (MWK) Baden-Württemberg and the 3R-Center Tübingen for In vitro Models and Aternatives to Animal Testing, we would like to cordially invite you to the official kick-off event of the newly founded state-wide 3R-Network Baden-Württemberg. The free WebEx-based virtual meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 04, 2021 from 3:00pm – 5:45pm. Science Minister Theresia Bauer MdL and Prof. Dr. Bernd Engler, Rector of the University of Tübingen, will each open the meeting with a formal greeting.

In the course of this virtual kick-off event, the projects funded by the MWK in the course of their funding offensive “Promotion of activities to avoid, reduce and improve (3R) animal experiments” will be presented by the ten network partners. With their 3R initiatives, the scientists are making a key contribution to further advancing biomedical research in Baden-Württemberg and improving animal welfare in research and education.
