The EUROoCS 2026 conference in Braga, Portugal, once again demonstrated the dynamic and interdisciplinary nature of the Organ-on-Chip (OoC) field. In addition to inspiring scientific presentations, the conference offered valuable opportunities for exchange and networking.

Particularly valuable was the intensive exchange between scientists, regulatory bodies, NGOs, and industry on current challenges and future applications of Organ-on-Chip technologies. Key topics included immune and inflammation models, vascularization, cancer research, biomaterials, metabolic systems, and in silico approaches.

The 3R principles (Replace, Reduce, Refine) were also an important part of the conference. Our colleague Hanna Vuorenpää from the 3R-Center Tübingen presented her poster, highlighting the STEP4NAMs project. The project aims to promote the acceptance and adoption of NAMs (New Approach Methodologies) while strengthening innovation and resilience in the healthcare sector.

A big thank you to the organizers and all participants for an inspiring EUROoCS 2026.
