Breaking silos. Connecting ideas. Challenging established thinking.
This was the spirit of the Austrian 3R Days in Vienna. The motto “Building Bridges and Bursting Bubbles” captured it well. The event brought together a diverse and highly engaged 3R community.

A key focus was the shift toward New Approach Methodologies (NAMs). This transition is moving fast. It is strongly supported by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Women, Science and Research, which actively promotes these approaches.

At the same time, one message was clear: innovation alone is not enough. New ideas need to be translated into practice. This requires strong education and training. The 3R-Center Tübingen presented its training formats. They aim to equip researchers with the right knowledge and skills. A highlight was the new Organ-on-Chip training within the STEP4NAMs project. It offers structured lectures and solid theoretical insights.

The event was also a great opportunity to reconnect with colleagues. It helped strengthen professional networks and exchange perspectives. Discussions with partners, including the 3R-Kompetenznetzwerk NRW, underlined the collaborative spirit of the community.

Many thanks to The RepRefRed Society – Austrian 3R Center (A3RC) for the excellent organization. The team created a valuable platform for exchange in the beautiful city of Vienna.
